The number 4 appears once.
The number 5 appears once.

The number 8 appears once.
The number 9 appears once.

Since each number appears only once, there is no mode for this set.

If there are multiple numbers with the same highest frequency, then there are multiple modes. For example, if we have the following set of numbers: 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5.

To calculate the mode of this set, we count the frequency of each number:

The number 1 appears once.
The number 2 appears twice.
The number 3 appears once.
The number 4 appears three times.
The number 5 appears once.

The highest frequency is three (for the number 4), so the mode(s) is/are the numbers with a frequency of three. In this case, there is only one such number (4), so the mode of this set is 4.
